The 30-3 drubbing of the Orioles by the Rangers, compelled an ESPN columnist to compile the 100 greatest beatdowns in history. About 90% of them are sports related. |

Haha... I remember watching that on the ESPN highlights ages ago with my dad. |

I'm no expert but I think the extermination of 90% of American Indians during European colonization slightly edges out Tiger Woods at the 2000 U.S Open....but it's still a distant 2nd to Secretariat in the 1973 Belmont Stakes though. |

Nice list. But he really should have included Ted Williams over Rip Sewell in there.

#86! McCarty Vs Lemieux!
I was at that game and you can't honestly guess from the video just how crazy the crowd went when McCarty went after Lemieux. The crowd cheering just swelled and swelled.
What that video doesn't show is the fact that Patrick Roy came out of the net and was caught by Mike Vernon. Vernon gave up about 6 inches and countless pounds, yet he still wailed on Roy.
I'm a fan of hockey and I usually don't get too excited over the fighting, but given what Lemieux did the previous playoff run (his dirty hit on Kris Draper), I was happy to see him get his ass kicked, what made it better was Lemieux showing his yellow streak by "turtle"ing

The 1976 Philadelphia Flyers beating the crap out of the Soviet Red Army. The only NHL team that year that could do it. They beat them and then they beat them again. The Commies ran off the ice and refused to play anymore. They only came back out to finish the game when they were told that they would not get paid unless they finished the game. |

Yeah but Charlie was armed with an AK-47 and a shi-tty stick. Thats a beatdown of immense proportions in my eyes!
5 years later they turned back the Chinese in double quick time.
It can never be a fluke result over 10 years. The yanks were well
and truly walloped.
Take the war in Iraq as another example, coalition forces have lost one battle (the 1st battle of Fallujah) and won 70. Whose winning the war?
Armies win battles, guerillas and insurgents win wars. |
