Anyone know where to go to get a wart treated? Can I just go to any one of those "Pi Bu Gwan-Ri"s that are on every corner, or do I need to go to a "real" doctor, or... ?????

Wartily yours,

K.C.

Get some dry ice from a fishmonger, and do it yourself.

Dry ice isn't cold enough to kill the wart virus. It's only about -80 C, whereas liquid nitrogen (the preferred method used by most dermatologists) is around -200C.

And yes, I've tried dry ice before - and no, it didn't work. But as a side result, I ate a lot of B/R31 ice cream for a couple of weeks...

don't ever go to a doctor or skin care center cuz it will regrow.
use a wart removal solution (13% salicilic acid and u can buy one at any yak guk, pharmacy) and it will go away in two weeks.

Yes, Walmart has left. Treatment? Cry a little and go to E-mart.

I went to a skin doctor and had mine removed by laser. Quick and fairly painless. Hasn't had one since...

I used little patches that I got at the pharmacy. It took some persistence (2-3 weeks, treating it everyday), but the warts are gone. First, soak the affected area. Then use a pumice stone to rub off as much as you can. Then apply the patch and cover it with a bandage so the patch doesn't come off.

It depends on where you got your wart. If it's on a real sensitive region, you should probably have a dermatologist look at that, as OTC medications might be a bit harsh on delicate skin.

Thanks for the responses. I've been battling warts (on my fingers) on and off for about 15 years or so. It's been a few years since the last one, I thought I had 'em beat...

I have tried those salycilic patches in the past, and only get temporary results - the warts always come back. Cryofreezing (or Cantharone, which I doubt is available here) have worked well in the past, although it typically takes a couple of treatments.

So, can anyone recommend a good skin doctor / dermatology clinic in the Jamshil or greater Gangnam area?

I've treated with the acid before, and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I read online though that you can use a piece of banana peel while you sleep (the inside part of the peel). Tape it on your wart while you sleep and something in the peel will get rid of the wart. It can sometimes take a week or two it says. I don't know if it works, but google it and you can read what people say. I recommend a doctor or an acid though.

In the last 12 years, I've had a few warts on my hands and fingers. Whatever you do, don't get it burned off. It will leave a nasty scar. My dermatologist back home would freeze it off with this tripped-out liquid nitrogen gun thing. It hurts like hell for a few seconds, but it will do the trick. Unfortunately the wart swells up and you get a big-a$$ blood blister for about a week. So if you don't cover it up, your kids will see and get all curious. One doctor said that if it's too painful, you can pop the blister, and another doctor said that you shouldn't pop it. Your choice, really.

By burning off do you mean the laser thing they do?

Cos I did that and have no scar.

I had some little growths I need checked in the US and they used spay stuff in a can. It was an oportunity for the doctor to teach the nurse practioner. Shortly before I left for Korea they were selling it in Wal-Mart. I never had any pain or blistering that Oreovictim mentioned.

Is the freezing spray available in Korea?

I read about using duct tape. I don't know if the green Korean duct tape would work.

A search on the web shows one study for tape occlusion, and one against.
