So, my boss just told me that even non North Americans will get thier pension back when they leave. Even those how have left recently will get it back through thier country's embassy.
I am not a teacher but he seemed to think it applied to all foriegn workers whatever thier visa.
Anyone heard anything about this? Do we know if it is true? If it is I will sing and dance. I am Scottish and hadnt expected to ever see a dime of it. That being said I am still not going to hold my breath. |

You should hold your breath if you have been drinking Special Brew.
Nowt like a Snakebite made with Special Brew and Pulse extra strong white cider.
I do hope the pensions are repaid although if the worst comes to the worst I will keep it in Korea and claim my pension here (if I can stick it out for 15 years or however long it is) |

Aussies are getting added to the list of those who can get a cash refund (summer 2008) and can file a claim retroactively.
As is currently stands, UK citizens get it added to their pension back home and do NOT get a cash refund.

My Korean wife was told that ALL foreigners are now eligible for pension refunds. Great for me as I am from the UK and was not expecting to see a dime back. |

It would appear to be untrue. |

But your boss is just overexcited about this because he's just going to try and pocket the money anyway. He's selling the idea to you. All bosses will try this until you call the pension office and make sure.
Don't put anything past a Korean. It's their god-given right to try and cheat you. |

Nope, I heard that Kiwi's have to pay back double what they paid in just before they leave so that they can make pension contributions later in NZ. Sucks doesn't it. |
