What makes the Tromm, Klasse, and Hauzen washing machines special? (They're much more expensive.) Are they the ones that dry as well as wash clothes? If so, do they do it well? Are there any significant differences between them? Are they all Korean brands, or are some of them foreign? (I need to buy a new washing machine, so I'm wondering if they're worth it, or if I should just save the 150,000 won and buy an LG brand.)

We have a Tromm. It also doubles as a dryer, but we never use it. It takes special washing powder. Works fine, as far as washing machines go.

Dryer takes a long time to dry clothes- longer than a western dryer. Whereas western dryers blow hot air on the clothes (and have a lint trap and an exhaust vent in the back to release the air), Korean dryers don't. They basically just heat the clothes up, while tumbling them a couple times per minute.
Not as effective, in my opinion, but it eventially gets them dry, shrunk up nicely, and softer. Three good things, in my opinion.

Anyone else? I know that there are some expatriates with these machines, especially married ones.

i have a tromm. it doesn't, in fact, have a dryer. so i guess not all of the "drum" machines have a drying function.
