Thats for a basic visa. There are classifications ie multiple entries, 30 day, transit. What about those? |

It all depends on what country you are from. The fee is simple reciprocity because of the US of A's fees for Chinese coming to America. |

Basic 30 day visa was only $80 two weeks ago. Maybe they got pissed off because the US is not buying their toys anymore? |

I just got the Chinese visa in Bangkok for about $110. For US Citizens only; all others about $30. Pissed off that we sent their toys and dog food back.
The price is exactly the same for single entry, double entry, or one year multiple entry. But for the one year multiple entry, its a business visa, and you need a letter (not sure what). Anyway, price is exactly the same no matter which visa they end up giving you (for US citizens), so do a little homework and try to get the one year multiple. Maybe go to the olympics next year, |

us americans always get screwed over. I paid 100 bucks for Bangladesh visa. Brits had to pay the 2nd most, and it was like 50 USD for them. Syria? also $100, which was a lot more than any other nationality. India has a special fee for us americans too. Good times.
Sounds like China has stepped it up a notch though, impressive. |

My (possibly incorrect) understanding is that Vietnam visa is 44,000 won for Koreans. It's 67,000 for Americans. |

Koreans do NOT need a visa for a stay of up to 15 days for tourism purposes when visiting Vietnam. |
You know, my boyfriend even told me that. I was just thinking of the 44,000 signed on my slip from the Embassy and the 67,000 I had to pay. |

I guess they figured they'd charge the most for Americans because they can afford it.
Makes sense. An American who plans a trip to China has got to have some disposable income. |

just like demaratus said, the fee hike is due to the fact that the us charges that much for chinese citizens to visit the us. in fact the us charges that to every country that is not on a waiver program. the $100 is only the application fee and sometimes theres a issuance fee on top of that depending on the country. so everyone should stop complaining about the price of the visa, especially since the us has been charging $100 for a visa since 2002. and yes i am an american and i do plan on visiting china. oh, and the fee is not $130 , its $100 . don't know why it cost $130, i can get it at a travel agent in busan for $110. |

Well, I do think the screwing over Americans get is reciprocity. I understand that if you go to Brazil these days, Americans have to get mug shot and finger printed, because we require that of Brazilians. Visas and work permits for the U.S. are very restrictive and very expensive.
It is a drag that the average traveler has to pay for the excesses of the U.S. government and State Department, but there is a certain fairness to it, |
