No airfare, you provide books and materials, and you must stay at school all day too. I can see you would do better taking a job that pays 2 m a month with air and apartment as well as books and supplies. It really doesn't look like a good deal. |

airfare is standard...doesn't need to be included in the ad.
being responsible for the books simply means that the teacher has to choose the books they want to teach, same goes for materials. Obviously the school is going to pay for that.
As for staying at school all day.....
8:00-8:45 am
3:00-4:45 pm
The time in the middle will be negotiable. It's likely that the teacher will be able to leave the school and come back after lunch time |

It says that that at school time is likely to be about thirty hours a week though...read further down in the ad. |

Likely is a great word for employers. A hagwon owner could likely pay you 3m won for 20 hours/week, but what does that mean? Profits didn't rise by the 400% I expected? Unusual circumstances, pay must be changed, wording says I can do it!
Housing could be a pain to find. Severance is guaranteed to not be there, which runs most employers nearly 200k/month on average. You also get stuck organizing a library, which is not included in class time.
The catch? There's no mention of how many hours you work on this library project, no mention of overtime pay, and 30 hours at school doesn't count the time you "can leave school", which means you're really tethered to your job from 8-5.
It looks too good to be true, and it is. At best, it's a reasonable contract with unusual duties. Still, when you can get 2.0-2.2 on 22-25 hours, knowing what you're doing, it doesn't sound quite so dreamy. |
