If I am working full time on my E2 visa and my wife is on a dependent visa is it possible for her to work part-time? How serious is the government about not working part time without the proper visa? We have a child so a half position and a full time position would work best. Has anybody done this before or run into someone who has?
Thanks! |

What you are thinking about doing is illegal, but I've known 5 couple in the same position as you and your spouce and they've been doing it for years.
You can get caught, but odds???? |

It is illegal, but if she pulls out her dependent ARC, chances are they might not bother, from my experience before and the experience of others.
But if you want to make it legal for her to work, she should;
1. Agree to and sign a contract with a company she plans to work for.
2. Take the contract to immigrations with the following documents;
a. ARC
b. passport
c. a copy of spouse's ARC
d. an application to amend her ARC
e. 60,000 application fee
f. any kind of degree certificates necessary to work there (IE, if a person needs a degree to work there, she should bring her original degree as verification for the job)
They should be able to amend her visa to allow her to work legally for that company or school. |
