I was wondering about the different wire fees from the different banks. In my area, we have Woori, Shinhan, Pusan Bank, KB, Hana, and maybe KEB. I'm trying to figure out which bank I want. What are the fees to wire, say 1.5 million won?

The fees vary from 20-50k won depending on:

Which bank you use here
which bank you use at home
the intermediary banks and/or networks BETWEEN here and home.

Any or all of them make take a service fee and they all add up. The fees may also vary because of banking affiliations between your bank here and at home.

OK, then I'd just like Korean bank fees since by bank in the US doesn't charge any. Also, is there a better way than wiring money, something safer than sending T/Cs through the mail?

At KEB it costs me 16,000 won to send 1.1 mil home, + an additional $10 from my bank (Bank of America) in the US.

Make sure you send it to the right account number. I am now having to work out how to get my money back from the wrong account in Thailand, one digit wrong, looked like a bloody 8 but it was a 6.

For future reference it appears to cost 13k to get your money back when you send it to the wrong account. Embarassed
