|
|
Hi just moved to Siheung with my new Macbook and I know nothing about computers. Ive only brought the power adaptor with me and left the box, instructions and other wires at home.
Im getting the internet for my apartment, did I need any of the wires I left in the UK? Will I need to replace them with Apple parts? Is this easy in Korea?
Please help an absolute beginner! |

As long as you have the power adapter, and power cord, you'll be ok. You can buy the round plug to fit into the wall socket here.
Your Macbook also has wireless internet should you so choose.
You can get all the help you need from the computer's help menu, built in tutorials, and from the apple website.
There are apple stores here, and you can find addresses on the website.
And, if you have more tech questions, use the tech forum instead of the general forum. |

As far as the power cable goes, you can buy the round-plug adaptor at any local hardware shop for 500 won. No biggie.
For internet, the internet company will supply you with the wires you need. Plug 'er in, open up your "Network Preferences", and the Mac should be able to set everything up for you. Do NOT let the technician try to use his Windows-based installation disk!
If you want wireless, you'll need to go to one of the local tech marts and buy a router - mine cost about 70,000 won. It took a little time to set it up, and wasn't really something for an "absolute beginner", but I was setting up my roomie's Windows PC too. As I remember, I followed all the instructions to a particular point and then got some weird error message telling me to go back. (The fix turned out to be something simple, but only obvious after the fact, of course...) Anyway, if and when you get to that point, ask for help on the Tech Forum, you'll get the advice you need. |

It'll be fine as others have said. If you have any problems with your computer, or any Apple questions, the support here is pretty good. I had some problems with my macbook and took it to the support centre near COEX and they took care of everything for free (as I have the warrenty). |
