So, I live in Bundang and its on a pretty standard and regular US Military flight path.
So I pretty much see Blackhawk helicopters going about their business 2 or 3 times a day. Occasionally you'll also see a group of those twin rotor troop transport helicopters flying along. They usually fly pretty high and follow the path of the river, the Tancheon. You also occasionally see a bomber or heavy airlift plane on its climb.
However, this week we've been seriously buzzed by military hardware and they've been flying much much lower on a different flight path and in much greater numbers.
Today it started rather weird as about 15 Blackhawks flew literally right over my school at very low altitude and they all had either cargo net ladders or rappel lines dangling from them with 3-6 soldiers attached to them.
Then about 15 Apache gunships flew really slow overheard, they were accompanied by a series of black hawks and those twin rotor guys flying in formation.
Then the loudest of all, we get buzzed by about 8 black fighters, they were small and really narrow, looked like F-4's but I didn't think those were in service anymore.
Then there were about 9 F-16's or F-18's, flying so low that they rattled the windows.
Anyway, interesting day. Incidentally, a similar incident happened on Tuesday, but without the fighters. About 15 Apaches flying slow and low north.
I heard that Osan does an Airshow, but Osan is south of here and all these guys were going North. |

I know what you mean,I used to live on [under] the flightpaths between Songnam, Yongsan, and the civilian heliport at Jamsil. Seeing a dozen helicopters a day in ones and twos was normal, but when you get a mixed company of 25 [chinooks, blackhawks, apaches, & Kiowas] flying overhead you start to wonder if it's time to head for the airport...
Isn't it the right time of year for Team Spirit? |

Ditto, one nearly hit my ear the other day. Between the buzzards and the mosquito fogging truck around our place the last while I'm getting serious WWI jitters. Or maybe I'm a throwback?

I saw exactly the same display right over Bundang. I guessed it was part of the post-typhoon Maemi effort. |

Came right over my school today too (Ori end of Bundang), had me wondering just what was going on for a while until it quietened down.
Never seen them fly so low before, or indeed never heard it so loud. |
