This is a take off on Johndoes possible haunted army barracks thread- I once worked at a place where all employees, myself included, thought the place had to be haunted. It was a mini apartment complex that was a residence for mentally ill, developmentally disabled folks who could live there with just some minor supervision. I worked the 11pm- 7am shift, and every night at 11:45 there would be sounds of walking and water running in the apt above the staff apt. No one lived there, and it would get pretty loud sometimes. The manager once had the police come out because she heard it too. One morning, I went into the staff kitchen and there were two sponges standing on top of each other longways in the sink-I walked toward them and they fell over. I was the only one working that night. Also, quite often the TV would turn itself off and on.

that's weird - I worked in a similar kind of place, for people with mental illnesses and a co-existing chemical addiction. I also worked the same shift - 11-7am. At night there would be a lot of strange noises: door knobs rattling, footsteps where there shouldn't be etc. It spooked the staff a bit, and they were a hardy bunch of non-believers.

One of my colleagues thought that all the "negative energy" left behind by unhappy, transient residents had left some kind of physical build up. I didn't know what to think but I didn't enjoy my night shifts.

Eventually someone called in a cigar smoking priest who rolled up in a sports car and sprinkled some holy water from what looked like a hip-flask about the place.

I left soon afterwards so I don't know what became of the place.
