3*+ hotels run about 25k won per night. 150k won per week. English speaking desk staff, bed, internet, satellite TV, private bath, mini fridge, and often breakfast.

Why would you really want cheaper?

The chain of "Home Inn" in Beijing is decent and easy to find on the internet.

				| That "Home Inn" chain does look really good.
 I stayed at "Downtown Backpackers".

It is a nice place. But the traffic is bad getting in and out of there.

				| I stayed at the Red Lantern House. Decent, but extremely noisy on the street early in the morning. | |

I second this recommendation. I stayed there for a week. It was clean, inexpensive, convenient, and had a very helpful English-speaking staff. I didn't experience any trouble with traffic since I was mainly on foot and bicycle.
