Man, thank god today is over.

A week ago, I met this 30 year old Korean woman at a (don't laugh) restaurant that sells chicken feet and that 'chicken *beep* house' dish (dalk ddong jib).

Anyway, I gave her my number but didn't get hers because I was probably drunk as usual.

So, last Sunday I am in Itaewon, and start getting these text messages, 'hi it is me, betty how r u?'. Naturally I am thinking it is the Korean woman I met, so I invited her out to Itaewon for drinks. She declined.

As the week progressed, so did the texts. Then I called her one night at about 11pm, and she was sleeping (I woke her up, she mumbled something incoherent then switched off her phone). I was like, 'Man, why do I always meet the loser chicks? Sleeping at 11pm - jesus...".

Fast forward to last night, I had a crap day at work, was insanely hammered, sent her a text saying 'Let's meet up for drinks later'. No reply, so I called her, and the convo went something like this:

Woman: Hello, this is Betty's mother, please stop asking Betty out for drinks, she is too young (this woman's English was pretty good).

Me: Screw you man, I think she is old enough to make her own decisions, what is wrong with some of you people?

Woman: No, she is too young to drink!

Me: Man, I've had enough with you c0ckblockers in this country, if you hate foreigners so much, blah blah blah

I think the convo ended with me telling her mom to go *beep* herself - I was pretty pissed off.

Now, here is where the fun starts - I met my friend at that same restaurant later on, and I swear to god, who is there, but 'Betty', drunk as a, uh, lord I guess. Now I am irate, I go up to her and start giving her crap - told her I spoke to her mom and heard she is not allowed to drink, so WTF is going on and all that jazz.

She looks at me like I'm nuts (wow, long post - better make quickskis) - anyway, it was not her that was texting me, but, wait for it, it was one of my students, a 12 year old. I had no idea, and there was no way I could've worked it out from the text exchanges.

Man, you know how paranoid and scared I was going to work today? I thought for sure the mom would have called up and shit.

Got to work, explained everything to a K-teacher, she called Betty's mom, and her mom said she was angry but it is okay now because she understands. Man, the Korean teachers were yapping away for ages about what happened - I felt so the fool!

Betty even came to school today, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, business as usual.

But man, what a bizarre experience - I felt like a right old t1t I did. Still have no idea how she got my number, because I've had a new number for just over a week now and only my boss and co-workers at school know it.

Moral of the story? Asking a 12 year old out for drinks will get you shut down - best to ask them out for McDonalds.

This is a joke, right?

(BTW, in the States some of my kids got my phone number from looking at the calling tree list. After school was out for sinner (edit: I meant summer, but sinner seems to fit here), they started calling me. "Hey Ms Atavistic. Do you miss me?" Three or four students called maybe a half dozen times during their first year of middle school to talk about grades and ask math questions. It was sweet. But if I'd asked one of them out for drinks in the States...shit.)

Why would I joke about this? I had no idea it was one of my students - all true.

What a loser, and you and another few posters on here need to start blogs with your insidious stuff.

Nope - going to the same restaurant to meet my friend soon actually - the beer is cheap there, always a regular crowd of Koreans that now know us, and sometimes we get free food there, if we haven't pissed the woman off too much that owns the joint.

Oh right, I forgot, I'm only meant to post useful stuff - the Home Plus by BongHwaSan Station at the end of line 6 now sells parsley and dried blueberries.

It is true. I was there earlier today. I bought a bag of walnuts.
