Hi, I guess I am heading to Phuket, Thailand for Chuseok. I was wondering if there is anything I should not miss while there, or anything that I should be prepared for. Thanks

Karon Beach-relaxing laid back.

Bangla road on Patong beach. Wild party place.

You should go to Phi Phi Islands. But stay at least one night--it's too much for a day trip, and try to go on a private boat, not on a huge ship with tons of other people.

Ahh, TB, connect4. I forgot!

In between kata and Karon beach there is a restaurant about 500m up from the water called Ed's Eating House. Great food. I strongly recommend it. Phuket isn't really a "doing stuff" place. It is a wonderful place, but more for relaxing IMO. Chill, sit on the beaches, boogie board, eat well, drink a bit and socialize. Maybe pick up some cheap fake shirts too. If you want excitement head up to patayya. Wow. My girl and I were stunned at that place.

Here is a map to Ed's eating house. I've put a blue mark on where it is, on the right side of the map (The map is from the hotel I always stay at there, and strongly recomment, www.diversinn.com)

Have fun eh

I'll be there over the chusok weekend too.. FYI, it is rainy season. I was there for monsoon season last year and was blessed with perfect weather. Empty beaches.. All for me!

You can play connect 4 with the bar girls or you can "bar fine" them and show them your hotel room. Similar girls can be found in the discos with no bar fine. It's amazing how many clueless guys think they've found true love. Don't forget to pay in the morning.

Beware of girls with long legs, large boobs and husky voices. Shocked

Hahahahah! How true. It took me three full days to realize the duffs I was with weren't joking when they bragged about how much the girl was 'into them'. After that realization, when they called them their 'girlfriends' and told the stories about how they 'hooked up' and 'snagged one' just bored me. They were still funny, but not 'haha' funny.

Be prepared for rain. I went 3 years ago during Chuseok and it rained nonstop. It takes a 3 hour boat ride to go to Phi-Phi, so I'd suggest staying at least a few nights.

don't miss nai harn beach, as i'd say it's easily the nicest on the island. there's a great reggae bar nearby with lots of cool thai rastas to hook you up if you're looking. i'd say the next best beach area is kata, perhaps followed by karon - though they're both more expensive and more crowded than nai harn. the best advice is to get out of patong though, only hit that place up for some seedy nights out on bangla road.
