Interesting?
Depends what you're looking for, and what part of town you're in (it takes an hour to get from one end to another.)
In some parts of town there are big malls with movie theatres, and in others it's got a much more rural feel. I love it because I can go to Seoul for shopping/partying and relax in Yongin when I need something more pastoral and easy-going.
There's a small, close-knit group of foreigners, some of whom will drink your socks off, others who would rather play Wii with you or make you cookies.
It's what you make it. |

nothing wrong with starting a new thread, imo.
The search function is fine. I have one difficulty with the search function that I have experienced from various computers.
I run the search, get a list of hits, click on one hit, read the thread, then when I try to click back to the page that lists the search results I get a "page cannot be displayed."
yongin sounds nice |

Well, it's one thing to post a new thread about information that's hard to come by, or detailed information relating to one part of town, one school, one facet of life, etc. But there's no shortage of information on Dave's or on the internet about cities like Yongin. I guess when people give the impression of having done no research, or of not planning to do anything to educate themselves, people get frustrated and think twice about helping.
Anyway, I've passed through Yongin a number of times. Hard to generalize, as it's pretty sprawling, but the northern side of it looks pretty much like any other medium-sized city in Korea. Countless rows of new apartment buildings, department stores, a variety of restaurants (not as many as Seoul or Daegu, obviously), gyms, etc. The subway extension should be done in a year or two. I wouldn't be against living there . . . but except for potentially being near Bundang (a pleasant area), I can't think of anything that'd really entice me either. |
