Here's an example of a teacher making a difference. I'd like to hear comments from JAD and gndnc on this teacher who has done his best to pick up trash along the river in downtown Seoul. So how about giving credit where credit is due?

MM2, I mentioned this in your thread and I just posted a link to it there.

I saw that guy on Saturday night. He took my trash that I was carrying to the nearest trash can. He was walking along chungye chun with a large garbage bag and one of those pick-sticks picking up garbage. I heard a lot of Koreans thanking him, and quite a few giggles too.

this reminds me that mexicans pick up and clean up parks, streets, etc... all the time, i hope there's some press about them too in USA today. They do a lot of the dirty work that no one really appreciates. they are the hidden people that keep america running.

Do they do that for free, or are they paid? I am also from Southern California and know that they are certainly not doing it for free as you are implying. The thread asked you to comment on the guy in the picture in this thread. So, as you like to say, stay on topic please.

well this guy is doing it to better relations in general.

what i am speaking of is the fact that it made a korean news article and made it to press on a heavily trafficked korean news site.

many mexicans try to do good things for their communities in america, especially in these anti immigrant times, but it never gets any press at all. even though latinos make up 14% of America. compared that to about .25% of westerners in korea. so ideally, there should be about 60 x more of these sorts of articles in America respectively.

What part of Los Angeles do you live in by the way?
