Aeroflot has regular flights to Eastern Europe at cheap rates (970 with tax one way, 1100 round trip) but isn't often used by travelers. Aeroflot won't come up on the usual reservation systems. You have to call the local office for flight and price info and then go there to pay for the ticket by cash. Aeroflot doesn't like credit cards. Also, Aeroflot accepts next day or even same day reservations. Many travel agencies want a 4-5 pre booking time. You can get out of town quicker if you need or want to.

Aeroflot has a horrifically bad reputation for safety and service. Sheremetevo can be a very difficult airport to transit at. It all adds up.

That said, Aeroflot is now part of Delta's SkyTeam Alliance, which means that maintenance is being held to a higher standard and the safety record seems to be improving for international flights.

Three years ago Аэрофлот had only 3 flights per week between Seoul and Moscow - now they have 5 per week. So deride them if you will, but people are using them in increasing numbers.

Much of Aeroflot's bad reputation among people who have not flown them is undeserved.

Safety statistics dating from Soviet times included in Aeroflot's record all the local carriers, freight operations, etc. of the U.S.S.R.

Aeroflot's international lines have always had a decent safety record.

Just got my ticket! It looks like a normal airplane ticket.
