I'm guessing that there is already a thread that covers this, but are there any guidelines or recommendations for what an application picture should look like? Should I dress up? Full body or upper torso shot? Just curious what others may have had luck with, good or bad.

Thanks!!

What I used was a shoulders and up shot. I focused mostly on my face. You should be wearing something that is professional, or at least, not scraggly.

If you are a guy, a cleanly shaven face, with tidy hair is best. If you are a girl, again, tidy hair, and perhaps a bit of makeup (Korean's do judge on appearance as much, if not more than your resume).

If you have any questions, feel free to post your photo here, or pm it to me. I could also pm you the photo I used for my application if you think it would give you some sort of guideline to follow. Hope this helped Smile

Just make sure you're smiling. Really, that's all that matters.

And of course it helps if you've shaved and combed your hair...

Other posters are spot on. Head and shoulders, shirt and tie, well groomed/clean/tidy hair - smiling is a must. Koreans will definately judge your application on your photo - in many cases your qualifications and experience are secondary.

It really helps to include photos of you with kids (happy kids - you teaching happy kids etc). It goes without saying (but we've seen this on Daves before) no photos of you with your arm around an Asian woman.

1 - Go to a photo shop/studio and have a professional quality passport photo taken.

2 - Wear a jacket, solid white or blue shirt (ironed) and tie (conservative).

3 - As stated in previous responses...haircut and combed (tied back if long) and clean shaven.

4 - Also as stated...a 'warm/sincere' smile and good clear 'eye contact'. Prospective employers will 'read' your face and judge your character.

5 - Get several (4-6?) copies for future use.

Most shops take several shots and you choose the best one to be printed. It's a small investment and well worth it.
