I recently went shopping for a new phone. One thing I noticed: there aren't any phones that have a nice, strong vibration to them anymore.

Now I know some of you are thinking, "Gee, what kind of funny comment can I make regarding vibrators here..."

Actually, this topic is serious. I like to have a phone I can actually feel when I get a call, or text message. It's usually too noisy in many places to hear a phone ringing in my pocket, thus the vibrating mode is a necessary feature. My new phone doesn't attract my attention when in vibration mode. This feature is so important to me, that I have avoided some models of phones which had everything from .mp3 to TV built-in, just so I can notice that slight buzz in my pocket (and not miss my call or text).

As I mentioned, however, the phones just don't vibrate with the same verocity as they did in the past.

Why?

I asked around. According to one shop owner, "Students don't want a phone that vibrates too loudly, because it can be heard in class."

Great. So the bad students from my classes -- the ones who try to hide their cell phones in their hands, under their desks -- are responsible for this dumbing-down of the vibratory mode.

As if I needed one more reason to scowl at them. Laughing

I hate those frekaing phones that vibrate, then rings, then vibrate.

Why can't the stupid thing ring and vibrate at the same time. By the time I hear the first ring after the vibrate I miss the call.
