Hey ...
I was fired from my last job and my school wouldn't give me a release letter. I left the country and cancelled my E-2 Visa. Is it possible to get a new E-2 visa with a new school? How can I find out if my former employer cancelled my visa and if I would be eligible to get a new E-2?
thanks! |

You will be eligible for a new visa when the old one expires. (Look in your passport.) |

I know people who've done that...but they were in-country and were able to prove to Immigration that their employer was defrauding them (they had a ruling from the labor board and all relevant paperwork).
It seems to be a case by case situation. But unless there is something else you haven't said (like why you were fired) it looks like you will have to wait. How did you leave? Did you just do a runner or did you tell your boss the date? |

i was fired for refusing to work O/T on a saturday for no extra pay ... I contacted the labour board and was basically given the run around so I just left the country hoping that by cancelling my visa I would be able to obtain a new one. |

No, that won't work. you are now stuck until the old visa expires. Relax in Thaliland or Laos or Bali as you're waiting. |
