I used to live in Daejeon. There used to be a bar there called JRock in the downtown area near Watermelon Sugars (also a bar -- for those who don't know). Both bars are (were) very popular, and it seems WMS still is. But, I visited Daejeon this weekend and JRock was closed. Does anyone know whether they are out of business or did they just move to a new location?

I wouldn't be surprised if it is kaput. I always "liked" the fake DJ who ran the same tape over and over again.

My favorite was the Carpenters On Top of the World inter cut with a hip hop melody that consisted of "I want to f*** you mother f***** again and again and then it would jump back to the carpenters!

Nobody seemed to notice. They just "danced" away oblivious to the incongruity of it all.

Watermelon Sugar is a good place although a bit decrepit.

Incidentally the Japanese punk rock group (80's era) The Plastic's version of I'm on top of the World is really cool. It is kind of like maybe things aren't really working out but I'm still optimistic (but really maybe not.)

J Rock moved a few years ago. It is now on the main square facing the two huge parking lots.

That is where I went. They were closed. The locals at a few other clubs said they had been closed for a few months.
