There is a much easier process for extending your period of sojourn then going into immigration. My ARC expires 3 days before my contract so I had to extend it and I'm over one hour away from the immigration office. I'm in between two offices and I drove over an hour to one of them to find out that I had to go to the other. They never tell you that you can do this online and not have to come in. I did it online and it took only minutes to apply and they gave me the extension in one hour.
Go to www.g4f.go.kr and sign up first. Then go to E-Applications and apply for an extension of your period of sojourn. Fill out the online application and supply a file with proof of flight and you're all done.
They got back to me in less than an hour and it didn't cost anything.
Just print the certificate and carry it with you in your passport and you're all set.
Hope this helps some of you.

I was required to show proof of intended exit from Korea, & gave immigration the phone number of my travel agent, who had booked a flight for May 21. The extension was given until that date. |

It worked for you???
Gddmnt!!
I registered on that site and even got an email to confirm it but when I tried to get an extension on my visa for a few days I got the same error message time and again
Tried e-mailing them but it came back undelivered
Maybe only foreigners in seoul are on the website's database or something
Had to go to the nearest city to get the extension....what a waste of time and money....got it though |

Don't you have to pay? I just got a 2.5 month extension yesterday, and it cost the usual 30 000. How do you pay online? |

No I didn't have to pay, probably because it was an extension for under 30 days.
When you get the result it does show if there are any fees, but I have no idea how you would actually pay, maybe with a credit card or bank transfer. |
