Has anyone opened a multi-currency account with the HSBC, or had any dealings with their Korean branches? If so, what was the experience like? Were they helpful? Could any of the staff speak English? |

While you are in Korea, I would avail myself of the opportunity to go to a branch in Korea who will assist you with opening an HSBC account in Singapore.
They speak English in Singapore and you can do your banking online. It
is one of the best locations in the world to have a personal bank account.
When you build up some money in your bank account in Korea then you can transfer it over to Singapore via wire transfer.
FREEDOM
P.S. I hope you find a good bank in Korea. |

I went to their branch in Bangbae. I ended up speaking in Korean to them.
They were polite and tried to be helpful, but could not speak English well and informed me that I couldn't get an international card with them.
But a multi currency account is obviously a whole other type of deal and probably if you had more money than me and / or a better job they'd be able to help you out. |

I have been to HSBC in Daechi-dong and they spoke pretty good English. I told them that I wanted an International Bank Account (something that I found on the HSBC Website) but they told me that they are HSBC but they are not part of the International Group.
Thus, they are a form of franchise with no real power as an International Bank. Furthermore, the best account they could offer me was some business account whereby I had to have atleast 100,000 KRW transferred into it every month.
Waste of time. Like the other poster said, just go to another country and open the bank account there. |
