Guys, when writing formally, what is the difference between 'this' and "this". eg: is a hippie "alternative" or 'alternative'?
Thanks in advance. |

It depends which English and conventions you use.

In American English, we conventionally use double quotation marks for everything except single quotation marks for a quotation nested inside a quotation. |
