Willing Workers On Organic Farms

I didn't know til now that Korea has a WWOOF organization! Has anyone here done any WWOOFing in Korea? Care to share some stories? I've done a bit in Canada and had some amazing experiences.

i havent been to any farms yet, but i got the book. it was like 15,000 or 50,000. they have an office downtown near jongro/insadong. some of the farms looked really nice, especially in jeollado. they do a lot with fermented microbial applications. i hope to go next season. a few of the places seemed a bit sketch/non organic or just signed up for free help, englich conversation, such as the "mechanical artificial insemination pig farm". no doubt that would be a cool one to visit though. pm me if you ever go to a farm. |

So far as I can tell, I'm the only WWOOFer in Korea and they're not going to pay many staff on my W30,000. The organisation has downsized a lot in recent months, to about twenty farms - I think they've removed all the non-English speaking places.
So far I've only done one complete placement - on Ganghwa-do for a month in the winter - and am currently on a farm in Hwaseong, which is seems to be open-ended (they must like me). Compared other countries, WWOOFing in Korea is hard work, and of course there's the language barrier to contend with (my farm-related vocabulary is a bit lacking). |
