I have a valid one year visa but will be going on a trip home, does anyone know if traveling outside Korea on a single entry visa okay, or is it better to have a multiple entry visa. Is it mandatory by the Korean Government? Or can you pay on reentry to Korea a one time entry fee?

Note: Some coworkers have said I must have a multiple as customs will assume I am not returning and will confiscate my alien registration card upon departure. Not sure if that's true.

Thanks!

You are required to have a re-entry permit stamped into your passport from Korean immigration BEFORE you leave the country or your E2 visa will be invalidated.

You can get a multiple re-entry stamp (allowing multiple trips in and out of the country) at your local immigration office. The cost is 50k won.

You can get a single re-entry permit at the airport immigration office BEFORE you go through security and passport control. It is in the hallway behind check-in counter "F". The cost is 35k won.

Question: do I need to fill anything in at immigration for this re-entry permit or do I just take a ticket and and wait for my turn?

I'm reluctant to get a multiple re-entry permit since I only have two months left on my contract and I am unlikely to be making any more trips out of Korea between now and the end. Should I just get the single re-entry permit at the airport on my way out next week?

Get the single at the airport immigration office.
Take your ARC, Passport, and 30k won.
You will need to fill in a application at the counter.

Thanks a bunch for all of your help, one last paranoid question. I'll be getting to the airport at about 7:30-8:00am, the counter where I will get my re-entry stamp will be open then right?

Thank you once again for indulging my paranoia, I'm not a very confident traveller.

The immigration office is located in a small hallway along the back wall of the departures area (before you go through security) - behind check-in row "F".

They are open from 6:30am until 10:00pm. It can take 15-60 minutes depending on the lineup in front of you.
