Travelers Cheques.
Korean bank cards are hit and miss, and when they don't work, it can really suck! You won't know if yours will work or not until you actually go there and try it.
Don't ask your bank, as their answer is a coin toss in accuracy. Mine told me mine was fine and then I tried it in the Philippines and it didn't work.
The same bank with a different card did work on the trip before. |

If you do NOT have a valid CREDIT CARD (like a VISA) pack a few hundred dollar bills into your pants and make use of the safe at the hotel office. Take them anyway because your C/C is not usable outside major metro areas.
A money belt is easier to get than a credit card (in less than a week) and it will work everywhere.
Lots of places (unless you are staying in major tourist locations like Boracay) will give you a ton of grief when you try to cash travelers checks. |

Consider opening a bank account there. Less hassle than opening one here, and your ATM card will work when you travel out of Korea (or so I've read on here). |
