|
|
One of my students took a TOEFL test on the weekend. She was telling me she had to stay extra long because she got a "dummy" copy of the test, which included an extra large amount of reading questions. She's not positive about the spelling "dummy" but it sounds like that to me. Last time she took a TOEFL test they gave her a different "dummy" test that had an extra helping of listening questions.
It sounds like they randomly give out different tests to different students. Does anyone know anything about how this works, or more importantly why it's done? I'm having trouble imagining why a standardised test would be available in many different copies. |

the iBT has experimental questions for research purposes that don't count as part of the students' score.
usually there are 3 readings, but there could be up to 5. similarly, there could be 2-3 listening conversations, and 4-6 lectures.
sad but true. |
