I was wondering if anyone that posts here knows anything about or has information about starting a 'recruiting' business - one that sets English teachers up with various Hogwons and Public Schools around Korea.

I'd appreciate it if my thread does not get hijacked or spliffed.

I think all you need is to get a business license if you are on F Visa.

After that, you just find people, get their paperwork, and take it to GEPIK and say "Here you go. Where's my check."

I've thought about doing recruiting myself, but I don't think I could stomach it. What happens if someone you recruited gets put in a bad school and they are absolutely miserable and there is nothing you can do for them. YOU put them there.

Or the other way around. Lets say you recruit someone into the school, and that someone causes major problems with the school. You are the one that brought them over and you are going to get blamed.

Also, a recruiter is just a middle man. After the contract is signed and the person is working at the school, your job should be done. Not so. Many people still complain to their recruiter 8 months into their contract when they should be sending their complaints to the school.

Is that really how it works? Would I go directly to GEPIK for this? Or do I contact individual schools and hogwons?

What happens if your not on a F visa? If you don't work for a school, would you then need a Korean business partner, and would they then apply for your visa as an employee of the company?

I too have been considering this as an option for next year but can't find information regarding how the visa would work.

If you have an F-series visa you don't need the 50,000,000 won but you do need to get to two licenses. The first is the business license which is easy to get, the second, is a rcruiters license which is not so easy to get, especially if your a foreigner.

Where do all the recruiters find the job openings? Is there some website they pay a fee to in order to get a huge list? Recruiters often advertise the same positions, and I once had a recruiter try to send me to a public school that I already had scheduled an interview with.

i think recruiters just post jobs they have had contact with (i think many hagwons use more than one recruiter), and then look at websites like dave's to see who's posted their resumes.

and yeah they tend to be extremely disorganized, not remembering who you are or what jobs they have already told you about.

i think only a few, the really big ones, actually have teachers directly applying to them and schools using them exclusively.

i think a small, independent recruiter would usually just end up being a bottom feeder, both in jobs and teachers available....really ask yourself, do we really need more recruiters?
