This is my first job at a university and I'm wondering what's the best way to assess mid-term (group) presentations by the students? Does anyone have a printable checklist or whatever? Thanks in advance.

It would vary for me depending on the needs of the class and goals of the program... but regardless I usually use a rubric put together with http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php
It's quite good and the templates provide a great starting point. Looks fancy too. Smile

It's a course on everyday English, fairly low level.

Butlerian,

I'd thought you'd of checked out the Public Speaking folder by now. I also, besides the many rubriks and peer assessment checklists there, have a blank rubrik with a descriptor sheet. Just add the descriptors to the boxes, weigh it and you are set....

But don't forget the cool speeches there to motivate the students.
