thanks to everybody that made suggestions. i have a hostel booked, in jimbocho, near the imperial palace. any reccomomendations on must see sights (other than the obvious imperial palace) or cool bars and restaurants in the area? thanks.

i am looking for hotel/hostel reccomandations in tokyo.

i know that this is probably covered somewhere else on this board, but i am looking to go to tokyo over chuseuk and i was wondering what neighborhood is the best to stay in. i'm definitely looking for something in the dirt cheap range for hotels/hostels, like $40 a night or less, and i don't care what sort of ammenities the room has as i don't plan on spending any waking hours in it. what neighborhoods are best for access to major sights, subways, and with lots of cool bars/restaurants within walking distance? thanks for your help.

I stayed at K's House. It was in Akuraa (spelling completely off), but if you google K's House Tokyo you should get the proper info. Tokyo's subway is awesome and the hostel is near the main JR loop line. It was about 30 bucks a night, very clean, and had loads of other foriengers to hang out with.

even closer to the "loop line" is the oak hotel. cheaper too, 1,800 yen for a dorm room. asakusa area as well. w/in walking distance of ueno station.
