Do you have to have new sealed transcripts (and apostiles) to get a job if you leave a job while in Korea?

Or can you use the transcripts from your prior job?

Thanks.

Wouldn't they have opened your transcripts to look inside?

Yes, I am sure they did. So, this seems like a stupid question. I guess I'm really wanting to know if I need the apostiles (new law) in addition to the transcripts.

Not too sure what you're asking here.

When you apply for your visa they need your degree certificate and transcripts, so after you send all the documents in you never get the transcripts back. Unless I'm mistaken. They more often than not give you your degree cert. when you get here. Some places hold onto them. I got mine back. But you never get the transcripts back.

That's why its a bit of a bummer because mine cost me 30 pounds for one sealed copy. Some Unis are very helpful and give you a few and don't charge you, mine didn't.

I know people who have done runners from their hogwans mid contract and got jobs easily enough. But the transcripts need to be sealed on each occasion. And you won't see them again. So it's best to come with a few if you think you'll get itchy feet.

Am I the only one who doesn't know what an "apostile" is? I looked it up in dictionary.com, no entries. So what's an "apostile?"

Apostiles are certifications from the Secretary of State in the state in which you got your degree (if you're from the U.S.). Now you have to get the degree and transcripts notarized and then get an apostile for each. Since I was living in Georgia and got my degree in California, my sister kindly spent one whole day running around and getting everything done for me. But unfortunately, I only got one transcript.

Not planning on running, but may be released due to illness and complaints from parents that their children are worried about the foreign teacher who is sick. see this other thread where I posted the problem:
