For the curry eating world, many restaurants call themselves Indian, but in reality they are also run and owned by Pakistani's and Bangladeshi's too.

So, that's why I've named the thread as it is.

I have been here for over 3 months now.

My Parents are Pakistani. Ever since I could eat solid food, I have eaten Pakistani food every week of my life. I have tasted Pakistani food from many sources and it is fair to say I know a good meal when I eat it.

Here are my views, on the restaurants I've tried in Itaewon:

1) Foreign restaurant - The food is ok, not outstanding, nor bad, but ok. I've only been there once.

2) Taj Palace - I can honestly say every single dish I tried, was not very good at all. I went in for the buffet, and walked out after 5 minutes.

3) Wazwan - I've been twice. The food tastes good, but I felt the portions weren't filling enough.

4) SWAT - On the way to Wazwan, on the right hand side, is a small restaurant. The food tastes nice, but too salty, that's why I don't go there anymore.

5) Indus restaurant - Food tastes nice, but again too salty.

6) Turkish kebabs - Cheap, tastes good once in a while.

7) Arab kebabs - Cheap, doesn't taste as good as the Turkish kebabs, but edible.

Hoor restaurant - This is in my humble opinion, is the best restaurant I've been to. The food isn't expensive, the portion is very filling and the taste is excellent, very wholesome.

If you are sick of going to restaurants in Itaewon and walk away feeling like you have been cheated, because of the awful food, then please try Hoor restaurant, I honestly think the food is fantastic there.

It is opposite the foreign restaurant, has glass windows.

I will try Usmania restaurant soon, I've heard it's expensive, but Hoor restaurant for now is my regular place to go, I recommend you try it.

I ate at USMANIA and it was fine. But if you want #1 DYNAMITE Indian food, hop on the subway (yellow line) to Seohyun, get off, go out the FRONT of Samsung Plaza, walk to the end of the plaza and turn right. Just around the corner, across the street, up on the second floor is Samakan.

No pricier than USMANIA, but better. Much, much, mucho better.

USMania has great curries. It's a shame that the naan is sub par; it's too fat and can get crispy.

Everest in Dongdaemun has the best naans I've had outside of the Balti triangle in Birmingham. Some good curries too, but I feel they need a little more variety and choice. Even so, the garlic naans are wicked! Smile

I can also recommend the naan at Samakhan. Biiiiig and chewy. The garlic naan is nice, too.

Hey I love Indian food, but am new to Seoul and am hoping for some REASONABLY priced Indian food. Is it like eating Italian here (Overpriced and fused)?

Wazwan - I often order the family sets and have never left hungry.

Wazwan is the best Indian restaurant I've eaten at here, but Everest is good too (although the chickpeas in the chana massala were hard, tut tut). The vegetable and daal dishes at Wazwan are particularly good. Can't vouch for the meat, mind.

Best Italian is La Tavola. It's expensive but worth it. Make sure you finish with a grappa and an espresso.

Went to a Nepalese place across from the Young-poong Bookstore in Jongno (near Jonggak Station, down the street from the Millenium Tower) called "Durga" about a month ago and had a great meal. Lots of familiar curries and plenty of other cool dishes I've never tried before.

I agree with Tiger, Everest in Dongdaemun is excellent. To get there, if I remember, take exit 3 and walk until your first street left (not the first little alley, but the next alley/street) When you go down half a block, it intersects some other alleys. Look on your right, you'll see it.

There's also a new place in Hyewha. Go out exit 4 and walk straight down the alley (runs parallel to the main road, you'll be going toward The Doors). It's on your left before The Doors. It's about 2,000 more than Himilaya for a dish, but it's well worth it. They also have a frequent diner's card.
