Has anyone flown to Busan from Incheon? I believe it takes about an hour? I was wondering how much of an effort it is compared to just jumping on the express bus (5 hour trip. Youch!) and how much a return flight might cost at the weekend. |

Time is money. Fly FLy Fly. If you get your ticket from a travel agency it is cheaper than buying it at the airport (something like 75 each way at the airport). |

The flight itself is about fifty minutes-- consume those peanuts quickly.
But factor in travel to the airport, sitting around waiting to board, and other details and you might find it not much improvement on ground transportation.
The first-class train to Busan is a little over four hours. Nicer than the bus, a dining car, bathrooms, good seats, and half the price of flying.

I think the dependent factor is how long it takes you to get to the airport.. |

I take it the train goes from Seoul station? I actually live in Anseong, but there isn't a bus that goes directly to Busan, so I have to come into Seoul (just over an hour) first.
And all this just for a guy |

Why aren't you flying from Gimpo? There must be 50 flights a day from Seoul to Busan but only 2 from Incheon to Busan. Gimpo to Seoul is about 68 000 won by economy. Do it once every 2 months or so. Takes exactly 50 minutes. Plane goes up, get your cola and before you're even half finished the stewardesses are asking for you to finish because they are about to land. Its a good flight. Go business for 80 000. For 12 thousand more the leg room is worth it, plus no ajummas. |

I've racked up literally tens of thousands of ff miles going back and forth between Seoul and Pusan. Flying from Incheon is fine, but it's far simpler to go from Kimpo, as the previous poster recommended. There is really no comparison with either the bus or the train and with so many flights daily, I think it's far more convenient as well. Also, things being what they are, you can actually just show up at the airport literally 15 minutes before your flight, buy a ticket and board immediately. |

You forgot to mention the lounge with its free snacks, drinks, iternet, comfy couches, and no ajumas.
Also, everyone is right about Kimpo; Asiana has 8 flights a day, and Korean Air has about the same. I am a member of Star Alliance and Asiana has just joined the club, so I rack up the miles
Bon Voyage |

You can get more info about Star Alliance here.
I know that Korean Air and Delta are part of the Sky Team, whereas United is part of Star Alliance. |

Use your United card with Asiana; you should be good.
Emma Clare: Another possible alternative to flying is coming out to Cheonan and catching the train. Problem is, you'll have to know your Korean, since the bus and train station are a 15-minute walk(5 minute taxi ride) apart, and the train station isn't easy to find. It'd be a shorter train ride, though.
...
You might be better off flying, heh. |
