I am interested in learning. I checked wikipedia and I'm very confused.
I just want to learn to dance at weddings, banquets, etc... I'm not competing or trying to make dancing a full time hobby. Whats the difference between American and the International standard?
If I'm just learning to dance casually, does it matter which style I learn? Also, there's waltzes, tango's, quickstep's, etc... Do you just learn a single style or do they teach you all of them?
Also, I'm close to Seoul, is there a good place where I can learn? |

I took a class here in Korea when I was a student. It taught the basic steps of the waltz and the cha cha and probably another dance or two but I can't remember. I suppose dancing at a wedding would most likely require the waltz.
I think what exactly will be taught dependso on the school or program you choose. I don't know what exactly is the difference between American and International styles...I'd imagine it's like the difference between American and Korean Tae kwon do: same basic principal with some specific difference that warrant the distinction.
I hope someone else pipes in on this thread. I'm curious to hear more about the subject. Damn you "So You Think You Can Dance!" |

I'm just tired of being one of the guys who stands in a circle outside the dance floor while all the girls are in the middle dancing.
I go to clubs and I dance there, but thats not real dancing. Its drunk club dancing. |
