I read on the Korean Consulate website in Toronto that tickets shouldn't be purchased until a visa from the cosunlate is issued. Does anyone know of a case where a number was issued from the school in Korea and the consulate/embassy in Canada turned it down? |

I've heard of plenty of people getting a ticket, then having a hogwan owner back out, or fly the teacher over and have them work illegally with no visa for a couple months.
It is safe to wait until you have a visa. If you get here with no contract, you'll have to go on a visa run to get an E-2. |

Thanks for the reply. The school has already applied for my visa in Korea and I should get my issuance number tomorrow or the next day. I understand that I take this number to the consulate in Toronto and they issue me a visa for my passport. I was wondering if anyone ever got the number from the office in Korea and then was rejected by the consulate in Canada. I assumed that the consulate in Toronto rubber stamps it. BTW the school has already purchased the plane tickets for my wife and I. |

You will be fine as long as your paperwork and documents are in order. |

The problem is NOT being REJECTED but BEING DELAYED.
If you have your ticket and there is any delay at the consulate then your ticket may, depending on the restirctions, become nothing more than a very expensive piece of printer paper when you miss your flight because your passport is still at the consulate. |
