I was just watching "Love Story in Harvard," an unintentionally-hilarious K-drama.
Six and a half minutes into the very first episode, Our Heroic Korean Protagonist makes this startled observation (sic):
. . . well sonuvabiatch! |

| Reminds me of my friend's senile grandpa. He still refers to black people as "colored folk". |

It is gratuitous, outrageous and shameful racism when koreans living illegally in America occasionally overhear old white folks say an outdated word. Its shocking when koreans encounter horrific racism.
I think they should take their victimhood to the international tribune of human rights in the hague. |

| Yeah but, keep watching. That guy (lead actor) and the Professor become not only on good terms but a kind of "teacher/student" friendship. |

The full series is on you tube, with subtitles.
Is it as good as hanoi bride?
I thought that 'Hanoi bride' quite good actually - it is as good as anything that comes out of Australia in the guise of 'drama'

Hahahhahaahahahahahaha ad nauseum
I've just seen the clip now.
Old man catches hero and girlfriend having a kiss and a cuddle in the lecture theatre, Old man is being a bastard.
Lead character on his first day without knowing who he is tells him to get lost.
Old man makes a comment about Asians getting into Harvard through donations.
Lead character complains not about the racism as such but because they were singled out when there are other races on campus the old git could pick on.
Lead Character goes on to make a racist comment about changing the mindset of 'white people like him'
Its been great up till now! Cheers for the heads up OP! |

So what did he actually say? "What's the matter, McFly . . . yellow?"
I've never seen the program, but from what I've read here, I wonder if the guy's English is good enough to understand what other people are saying. |

What's wrong with that? |
We had a discussion about this in my intercultural communication class at University. A lot of the black students said it had racial undertones because the signs in the 60's said "Colored Section" or "Colored People not Welcome".
Apparently, the word invokes memories of a time where prejudice and bigotry against blacks was legally enforced. |
