I've finally seen Michael Moore's Sicko. Jeez it really does make America look like a joke. Is the French system that much better? It just portrays Americans as frightened cowards afraid to stand up and demand more.
While America tries to belittle France do the French look across the Atlantic and grin knowing they've got it better? |

Yeah unfortuneatley - they do it with everyone though. You don't get many French expat enclaves around the world. They like being French and living in France and everyone else is a loser.
They don't care what the Americans (or anyone else) think of them
if you met a French person an started to slate their country they would just laugh at you and walk away.
There is a line in the French film bout de souffle where the main character goes something like this.
'In France we have the mountains, the city, the beach and the countryside - if you don't like it. Get stuffed' |

You have to take Moore's latest film (like all his work), with a grain of salt. He has a huge political axe to grind, and he's not beyond bending the truth to make his point. His favorite tactic is omitting facts that get in the way. Personally, I don't think you can take anything he says seriously. At the very least, you have to do a lot more investigating to get the full story. |

The basic gist of what he's saying is true though, no? I know a lot of americans are trying to discredit the accuracy of his facts etc, but I haven't heard many people directly disagreeing with the basic underlying element of his argument (ie The American system is crap and substantially worse than those of other western nations, even if the latter are far from perfect) |
