We are moving back to Canada and we are shipping several boxes. Yes, I know there are several posts on shipping but none on this topic.
I was told by an agent that if you've been out of the country for one year you are exempt on paying tax on any stuff you bring home (unless it's over $10000). I was also told that your stuff must arrive at home after the year is complete. If it arrives early, there are two options, either paying tax on the items, or sending them back to customs to wait until we arrive to claim them.
So, here is my question. Those who have sent stuff back, how did you label your items. If they are gifts, you are allowed to send them directly (provided they are less that $60). We would appreciate suggestions as to what to tell Korea post when sending them.
Also, did you tell customs at the airport that you had sent a bunch of stuff, or did you just play stupid. I think that if we just send the stuff (i.e. not label them personal belongings), we won't have a problem. Just wanted to make sure.
Thanks. |
