if you want to find a job in the korean financial industry, sophisticated korean language skills is obviously a must.
i am an economist with sound qualifications, have an MBA, CFA, worked with investment banks for 7 years and speak 5 languages (english, german, french, chinese, italian), but no korean (yet). all the banks i asked so far put me off with this argument without even looking at my CV, which is kind of frustrating...
anyone having the same experience or know someone who does? |

Your skills and qualifications mean nothing if your employer can't communicate with you.
Misunderstandings in business/financial sectors can have extremely bad repercussions.
You best bet would be to apply to a MultiNational Entity that does business in Korea and try to enter the job market that way. Or you can start at the bottom editing English documents and work your way up. |

I met with exactly the same resistance, you will have to depend heavily on getting a network started to have any chance of scoring a job in the ROK. |

A problem is that these places don't want to hire teachers. Too much of a hassle with changing over the E-2 visa thing.
Oddly, people here working on a tourist visa stand a better chance at these jobs. |
