First shown in 1989, this is the documentary about Yorkshireman Paul Sykes who challenged John L. Gardner for the British and Commonwealth
heavyweight boxing titles. (L TKO 6)
A standover man, debt collector and habitual thug, Sykes spent most of his life in jail an this is a documentary about his life and his new start
after being released from jail.
Sykes wasn't just any old thicko though. He earned a degree while inside and written a best selling book about his life.
Paul Sykes died of cirrhosis of the liver at the age of 60, March 7th 2007.
This documentary is a cracker though, one of the best boxing documentaries ever made in my opinion, full of good one liners and deadpan humour. Check it out.
