Hi
Taking I get a Chinese visa in Seoul, I have read from this Forum and Guides that its possible to get a ferry to Qinedao, China. Arriving in Qinedao how easy and how long does it to get to Bejing?
I have about 5 days to spend in China. Thought about going Shanghai but flight costs seem prohibitive over 400,000 won Shocked and the ferry from Incheon does'nt float there. If you were to spend/have spent five days in China where would you go/do? Smile

I did the ferry to Qingdao and took the train to Beijing. Fortunately a nice girl in Qingdao helped me get a hotel room and a train ticket. If you only have five days I recommend flying directly to Beijing and spending all your time there.

The Central City Hostel and Hotel across the street from the train station is the place to stay. Never get a hotel from a huckster at the train station. They have both hostel rooms and hotel rooms. Super clean. Super cheap. Washers and driers. They have a tour desk where you can get a bus ride to hike the Great Wall. Most places are an easy walk from the subway stations and the subways are easier than the buses. The hotel gives you a sheet with bus numbers for most sights.

Get the card for the subway. You can also use it on the buses.

The boat ride at the zoo really sucks. It is not a boat ride inside the zoo. It's a boat ride to a temple and the summer palace. The banks of the river are high and you can't see anything.

If you go during a peak travel time like I did then train tickets are hard to get. There were people sleeping on the concrete outside the train station waiting for days to get a ticket. Buy your tickets from a travel agent before leaving or fly to Beijing.

Qingdao is a nice coastal town. It's an Olympic venue. Cool architecture. The aquarium is OK. The marine mammal show kinda sucks. You can get English maps near the beach area.

Never get a hotel from a huckster at the train station.

The high speed train takes a few hours. I think it was about 5 hours to Beijing. With only five days you should fly directly to Beijing.
