Good news in the United Kingdom's family life...the problem is not so bad. Only one in four children do hard drugs. Used to be three out of ten. (Sounds like apologia and an unwillingness to confront Britain's failed family life. But, whatever.)

Quote:
Fewer children in England are drinking alcohol but those who do are drinking more than ever, government figures showed today.

An annual survey of 11- to 15-year-olds found that last year just over a fifth said they had consumed an alcoholic drink in the past week, down from more than a quarter (26%) in 2001.

Among those who had drunk alcohol, the average consumption was 11.4 units, a rise of one unit since 2000, according to the report by the government's information centre for health and social care...

The proportion of children who said they had ever taken drugs fell from 29% in 2001 to 24% in 2006. The proportion who said they smoked at least once a week has remained unchanged for three years, standing at 9% last year.

Gopher, nobody is denying that society is collapsing. I've never stuck up for England in this respect. Brits can look at themselves in a very critical fashion but not necessarily do anything about it. Our political system is crap, first past the post is not a fair reflective system of the population's vote, this is shown by Blair's presidential style ruling. Pushing through devisive laws that do more harm than good.

The introduction of league tables for health, schools and the continued dislocation of ethnic minorities from English society doesn't really surprise me, in showing the continued decline in our society. The league tables just cement the fact that the divide between rich and poor is turning into a chasm. So the fact that England has the highest rate of getting mash up doesn't surprise me. If anything it's become so much a part of culture that we don't really think about it anymore, it doesn't surprise us. When I lived in Sweden and explained that's it didn't surprise me or bother me, they were shocked. Sweden and drugs is a no go.

The actual base problem for getting rid of drugs is not going to happen, because you may as well try and outlaw booze while you're at it, seems to rife for the same reasons. Disillusioned, dislocated society.

This is probably why this year was the highest rate of skilled, educated workers emigrating away from Britain. Slippery slope from here.

Decades of prohibition have ensured record quantities of drugs on the streets and Afghanistan opium crops enjoying record levels in 2007.

Here is your average UK citizen. Poor old bugger:

And here are your typical commonwealthers:

No wonder they're so happy, popping Es like they were maltesers.

And here is our favourite chav again, setting off down the M1 to meet his supplier.

Well how do you think he really got the money for his flash car? Dealing on the council estate, that's how. He's probably only 13.

Big bird, I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. You're gonna have to sell a lot of ten bags to get some wheels like that.

Knowing chavs he's TWOKed it, and is off down the arches to take out the vehicle reg plate and then punt it to the Mitchells.

Haha, too right.

I thought I better supply a translation for those English speakers who don't quite speak our language:

Quote:
1. twok

To steal. an abreviation of the common juveline crime of 'Taken Without Consent' usualy applied to motor vehicles stolen by chavs.
