Hey everyone...

we've received some great interest in our online calendar over at www.seoulsteves.com its up and running for you guys, so go over and use it. Let us know how you feel about it, drop us a line on the blog, email us with a comment, let us know any suggestions for improvement.

Right now, we need your help to get events posted--it's easy, just click on the link below:
www.seoulsteves.com/submit

fill out the form, make sure to put it in the proper category, and submit.

Even though we constantly searching for events, some fall through the cracks.

Thanks in advance!

You need to simplify the submission procedure. It might just do a lot of good to create membership accounts so people don't need to fill out all their details each time. It took me 2 minutes to do what on another board I could do in 20 seconds.

It's a great idea, but this standard blog set-up needs to go. It's honestly a nuisance to navigate your site. Take a look at brokeinkorea's live show calendar...not that's how an events calendar should be organized.

edit: I spent some more time on there and got more used to the setup...but I still think there is a lot of room for improvement.

C_A...
I feel you on the blog comment...we're actually shopping around for a new template and new format as we speak, so stay tuned for updates.

R.T...
You've got a valid point, we need to simplify the submission procedure...unfortunately the software we are using doesn't allow for user accounts--so we'll have to find a way around that. Is it the name/email part or all of the other form stuff?

Thanks for comments--always looking for ways to improve.

Name and e-mail seem unnecessary to me. I don't need to receive a confirmation e-mail.

Also, duration of the event seems too difficult to answer.

Thanks for the comments!

I'll see what I can do about the submit form. There's a lot of things we have to try and balance in it, and I'm not totally sure how much we can customize. Name and email aren't on there for confirmation, they're just there to hopefully discourage people from abusing it.

That being said, we've talked about it and are considering removing it. I will play around with the form and see what I can do as soon as I finish writing this.

As for the BrokeinKorea site, we experimented with something very similar, but when it came to the sheer number of events we have found ourselves dealing with, those kinds of calendars just didn't hold water.

I mean, I envy how straightforward and organized it is, but when you add another 20 or so events going on every day it loses its usefulness.

Would it be easier if we set the main calendar not to display any events at all, and the viewer would then have to use the check boxes to choose what kind of events they want to view?

Hmm.... that could be worth testing out as well...

I could see that.

I do want to say that I think it's a great idea! It's so hard to find out about events in Seoul....everything is so decentralized it seems.
I've been trying to keep on top of adding events to the mongdori site but....I'm not up to the task...

Woohoo! Thanks for the kick in the butt guys, I JUST figured out how to do something I've been trying to do ever since we first got our fancy-pants calendar like a month ago.

www.seoulsteves.com/calendar just got a lot more user-friendly, I hope. The only problem is that not all of the events are represented in the drop-down menu, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Also, I tried to do something about the issues on the submit page, but ended up having to email the support people about it. It might require some tweaking by the company's developers.

Seriously, this feedback is awesome and helping us iron out some kinks. Cool
