I know that chicks like drummers, but I am not a chick. I think his drumming is hot though (just over one minute of your time):

So yay or nay - is this Norwegian fella hot to trot, or not?

Hell no! Yuck! He needs a haircut and a facial. And a bath, for that matter. When did he last shower? Last year? I wouldn't even want to see his fingernails.

Huh? You do know that racist Norwegians consider themselves 'whiter than white', as in no Czechs for them kind of thing, because they are not really 'white'.

Just curious as to how you could find that pale, pasty Canadian-like skin dirty, is all.

And his name is Frost. Rhymes with cost, and lost. If that is not cool, then I don't know what in tarnation is.

Single-stroke lamer. I was a better drummer at 12. Oh yeah...he's ugly as tree bark.
A real drummer for you, though not quite as goth.

Chamberlain's good, but my hat goes off to Buddy Rich:

Definitely not as goth...

I'm not sure who Chamberlain is, but... Wink

Chambers takes Buddy to a new level, though he seriously acknowledges him as an influence on his DVD. Buddy was indeed an incredible drummer, but honestly, Chambers is untouchable.

Jealousy is an ugly thing.

Go away, Mr. Ugly, go away...

I'll see your Buddy and raise you a Buddy vs. Gene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwJAAlXomVk

And there's much better Krupa on Youtube than that.

Well, Mr. Happy, the fact is that he isn't a very good drummer. Many bands are a sum of the parts; individual performances are often a bit too telling. The video in the OP is a fine example. Skill? He he...ok then.

I watched a few related videos on Youtube, and the same conclusion arises. He isn't very good. A hack.

Jealous? Well, if that's what you wish to believe, but I can't imagine anyone over the age of 18 being so. Now, Dennis Chambers? Not jealous, but man...the guy really makes me want to get my chops back up to speed and become active in the music scene again. Inspired, but not jealous. He makes me dream...the Satyricon dude makes me feel lucky.

Ha! Watch Buddy Rich get his ars... err, bu... err, "floor tom" handed to him! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erE8WTngaAY

Meanwhile, in all seriousness, drum battles like that Rich-Krupa spectacle aside, ever since drum solos became contests of speed and endurance rather than embellishing a tune, I fail to see the point in them. This is particularly true of rawk shows in my perspective. Prodigious tub-thumping skills are all well and good, but I want a nice groove rather than 10 minutes of 163876541684654 bpm whirr.
