I know, normal Hite, OB, Cass = crap, but the small bottles of stout are ok, and only 1200won - 1500won.
Agree?
Mind you, I already liked dark beer. |

Hey,
I think it's complete garbage. But hey, I am happy to drink a bottle of Guinness Stout for 7,000 won and not feel nauseous the next day....
Just kidding, it's alright for Korean beer but I'd rather be sober than drink a lot of these so called beer..... |

It's my cheap beer of choice in this country. |

Natalie and Gatsby: You obviously are the foreigners on drugs in this country.
Hite Stout is absolutely awful, and I'm a dark beer drinker. I'd rather drink the pissy light beer than that stout.
I've always wondered how much money a company would make if they manufactured a decent beer. Even something mediocre on world standards, like Killian's Red or Heineken. I know the foreign community alone would keep that brewery in business. |

I will go a step further. I think Hite Stout is an excellent beer by any standards. It's not as dark, thick and bitter as Guiness Stout. It has a lighter, more refreshing flavor that is good cold. And it has fruity overtones like a first rate home brew.
Actually, I have seen lower prices, I think less than 1,000 won a bottle.
One mystery here is why are prices for canned beer more expensive than for bottled beer. It's the other way around in the States. Bottled is generally considered superior in the taste department. I'd rather they got rid of bottles here. I was disappointed to see broken glass on the streets and sidewalks, just like back in the States, although not as often.
I should add that I only drink a bottle or two at a time, not a six pack to get blasted. And I am generally impressed with the beer here; it tastes pretty good - nothing fancy, but refreshing in moderation. On the other hand, except for microbrewery type stuff, beer is pretty much just beer. Which is why I like a nice stout. |
you think your the first person to drink out of that bottled beer??? aluminum is expensive here. cheaper to recycle the glass..
just my guess.. |

Yuck! I wouldn't even bestow the high honor of mediocrity upon those two beers.
But just my opinion. I don't mind anything that Korea sells actually. |

Wait, wait, wait. You think Korean beer is better than Killian's or Heineken? I've never posted on the Seoul Police snitch board, but you are on crack, my friend!
I don't think either Killians or Heineken is very good, but when compared to domestic Korean and domestic American, they are better.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Samuel Adams or Young's Double Chocolate Stout are some of the best beers. |

Sierra Nevada??? You are seriously kidding right?? Say that you are! Please say it ain't so!! One time someone bought me a bottle of that and the rest of the six pack went straight down the kitchen sink (nobody wanted it; otherwise I'da given it away)! And I'm from Cali where that stuff is made!
Sam Adams (or most any kind of red beer) not only tastes bad, but gives me a headache.
I will have to agree with you on Young's Chocolate Stout though. (Looks like we do have some common ground after all). That beer is very, very nice (but a bit hard to find; in Cali there is a store chain called Trader Joe's. It's the only place I could ever find that stuff).
I go strictly for taste; it either tastes good or it doesn't. Korean beer is not THAT bad (definitely better than SNPA; hell, even Heineken tastes way better than that schlop!)
But again, everyone has slightly different tastes. |

Hite Stout is pretty nice.
no, it ain't a world-beater by any means. sort of like a brand-new Hyundai Azera (sorry, Grandeur) is a damn nice car, but it's not a BMW 5-series.
i really don't have a problem with Korean beer. it's as good as anything else at the same price...well, except Pabst Blue Ribbon.
my deal is that you have such a limited choice of DRAFT beer. 90 percent of places just have Cass. the other places just have Hite.
you can actually get a pretty good selection at many restaurants and bars...but only in bottles. i understand that regarding some of the obscure beers it wouldn't make sense to offer them on tap...
but for Christ's sakes! what about Guinness! i had never imagined there would be a bar on the planet that didn't have Guinness available on tap...and yet, here i am. man, a pint of Guinness would be right nice. |

What do you think about Bully Porter? That's got some kick to it. |

Never tried it. But I did remember distinctly noticing it on the shelves last time I went to Arkansas. If I can recall correctly, it's got a bright picture of a bulldog on the front? (I passed it up and went for the Diamond Arkansas Brew; very bitey)
I'll try anything once. Next time I'm out there again. |

Wolfhound in Itaewon has it, so does the place right next to Platinum in Gangnam, exit 8.

This was so predictable. A bunch of beer snobs/knowitalls/ignoramuses who like either obscure beers or think Miller/Budweiser are the only good beers in the world duking it out while sneering at Korean beer. |
You lived right up to your prediction.
Obscure would be "Texas Sux" beer. Sam Adams, Killians, Heineken, Young's? Not obscure to those who have walked into a liquor store.
Duking it out? I see only conversations until your post threw out name-calling.

about $20 US a six pack.
Sorry, there's no beer that good in Korea or the world. |
Theres lots of times, places and beers worth that much.
Quote: |
Now, go ahead and make your quote boxes and sneer at what a beer bozo I am |
Boxes, but no names. I don't know you enough to judge. |
