Being so very old , I remember the Frost-Nixon interview very well. It might have been Frost's most famous interview. Nixon had no intention of giving an American journalist the time of day, let alone an interview.
Is Frost still alive?
The Malcolm X interview is a gem. Note his contempt for MLK, as he dismisses the interviewer's mere mention of him. "90% of black Americans sympathize with the Black Muslims." Right, Malcolm. It was a crock then & it's a crock now. |

Bill Grundy interviewing the Pistols
That was such a big deal at the time. Years later when I was a teenager I'd regularly see references to it. That was the first time I've ever been exposed to the whole interview, and I can't help thinking 'what the hell was all the fuss about?' I'd assumed it was much much worse. - But 30 years ago things were very different I suppose, and didn't poor old Grundy lose his job over it?
Haha, this made me laugh:

Immediately after the programme the 12 lines to the studio switchboard were jammed with complaints. One viewer said that he had been so outraged that he had kicked in the screen of his new 380 television set. |
Having seen how mundane the whole interview was by today's standards, that's doubly hilarious.
Nice signature btw. |
