tesolonline.com?

I looked at both and there is very little price difference but which is more prestigious? Is having a TESOL certificate better or having a TEFL certificate? Is there much difference?

Thanks

For Korea and Asia in general, it doesn't really matter. Anywhere else in the world, you might want to look into more diploma oriented programs rather than certificates. It also depends upon whether you want to be teaching adults or children. In any case, good luck in your studies.

Thanks Craven. Could you give me some examples of diploma based programs like specific websites or course names? I know CELTA is the most prestigious but they only offer it in like 10 cities across the U.S.

I took a certificate course in 2004 for a tesol. Paid about $700 Can.

It was fun and interesting. We played activivties and I learned a great deal about teaching.

I learned that I hated it and never wanted to teach or take a course in it again. Sad

So it was worth it for me.

Hey antgonz, I'm currently enrolled in the Vancouver Community College TESOL diploma program. It is a bit pricy, working out to about 3000$, but it paves the way for more prestigious positions back in the real world in the future. The VCC program also includes a 25 hour practicum. CELTA is about 2500$ for a month, but I'm not sure if you can do that by distance. That's all I can think of for now, but PM me if you have any more questions. Hopefully this helps.
