| A very weak version of on-demand digital TV. |

Cos school is paying and I think I will get more football/soccer than normal TV. Any other suggestions? |

No you won't. It doesn't have any at all. Pretty much all it is a database of mainstream films, a few bland TV series and a lot of Korean show programs that you access much like on airplane tv. There's no "live" programming AT ALL - no news, no sports etc. |

I just got 2 months free Hana-TV because I signed up for their internet.
I was just browsing it, and there are approximately 500 western movies. The recent ones cost money (500-1,500 a piece) and the old ones are free. There's a few I wanta watch. Lots and lots I don't want to watch. For me, it's free for the moment, so I'm not gonna cancel it just yet.
Oh yeah, I also like K-pop, and there's a bunch of that for free too.
No 'live' tv shows though. And the closest you'll get to a western TV show outside of the movies is National Geographic.
I don't think I'd pay for it, but we'll see how I feel after 2 months of the free service. I like the fact that there's about 20 or so movies I wanta see which don't involve me going to the movie store to rent them, or having to go to a website to download them.
If they had English subtitles for the Korean movies and dramas etc. I'd definitely stick with it. But they don't. |

Sky Life has Star Sports. No cable companies in Korea, beyond incredibly expensive satellite services carry ESPN; the closest you'll get is MBC-ESPN, which shows quite a bit of Premier League (though mainly Man Utd, Tottenham and...where did Seol move to?), and you can get that with regular TV. |

My wife watches old Korean dramas straight through for hours at a time on Hana TV. It's also got a decent selection of Children's programming.
The menus are all in Korean, so be prepared to slog through transliterations and translations of English movie titles if your reading skills aren't up to snuff.
There is a button for subtitles on the remote, but I have yet to find a movie which offers them. |
