There was a posting awhile back that misused the word "misogyny."
The correct definition of misogyny is "a hatred of women."
There probably aren't any real misogynists on this forum. But if you were, here's your chance to have your say.
I'm going on vacation now. |

I just voted for Canada. Putting Canada at 100%. Nobody else vote, the poll results are hilarious this way.
Joking aside, I think self-centeredness tends to cross genders in any country. I've found the Canucks I've met here to be extremly full of themselves, convinced they're the most educated, erudite, global people in the world, and that being ignorant of Canada is evidence of overall ignorance. Their main evidence for this is that they're more global and better educated than their big neocon neighbor to the South. Which may be true, but being smarter than the U.S. is about as prestigious as winning the special Olympics. Also, as a global player, Canada has not particularly called attention to itself in a way that would warrant everyone being knowledgable about it.
I'm from Wisconsin, by the way. |

I'm think the mods did some cleaning recently. Thanks, Mods!!!
Nope, no misogynists on this board. No racists. No white-supremacists, child molesters, rapists, petty criminals, psychos, schizos, drunks, druggies, sex addicts, fetishists, rabid nationalists, etc. Been on this board since 2001, and all users are carefully screened and deemed certifiable.
Er, certifiably normal, I mean.... |

Nobody really hates women. Sometimes we love them the wrong way. Most of the time, we don't understand you for the exact reasons we don't understand ourselves. You gals don't always yourselves, either. Hopefully, we figure it out, later. Hopefully.
Okay, I take it back, there are a tiny minority who are simply sick. Haven't noticed many around here, though. If a guy has a different opinion than some particular woman, doesn't mean he hates all a ya, though.
Also, there's the guys who are just pullin' your chain. Please exclude them from the rest of us who simply disagree about one or two things. That's the way things really are. People disagree sometimes. Really. Disagreement does ot equal hate, though. |

I guess I just don't see how being superpower requires intelligence. The people of South Korea, for example, are on average more educated and informed than the peopl of China, as are the people of Japan. China could still take both of them in a fight. A monkey is smarter than a crocodile. I could go on. |

Yeah well I find yanks (or any other groups) who make sweeping generalizations about Canada and other nationalities to be extremely full of themselves. |

You should read some true crime by Ann Rule. Generally they are about murdered women. That should change your opinion a bit that "nobody hates women". If you've got an excuse for the guy (can't remember book title right now) that liked to abduct, rape, torture, and kill young women (and cut off their b r e a s t s and make construct plastic mouldings around them), I'd like to hear it. |

More educated and informed? You might not say that if you taught my college students. Asking them to find China or India on a map (I teach "Travel English") or name ONE country in Europe... OY. |

I was referring mainly to people on these forums, because that's how this misogyny thing is usually talked about. I guess I should have made that more clear, but I really thought I did. Anyway, I did actually say that there are sick people in the world, but you chose not to highlight that part, didn't you?
Actually, I think you need to apologize to me for implying that I would wish to make excuses for rapists, torturers and mutilators. That was very impolite of you, and I don't think I've said or done anything to deserve it. One might even speculate that your behavior in this regard reflects a bit of misandry on your part ...

Well, sorry Bobster, but I have seen far too many posts from people making excuses for every sort of behavior imaginable. I felt you were being flip. I have a bad memory concerning who has written what, so I can't recall anything from you in the past that stands out (besides something that happened with Red Dog perhaps, but that's all I can come up with right now, and that was a different topic). However, I don't agree with your comment that there is no hatred of women on this site. I've read some really, really vile stuff on this site in the past, and there have been some really, really vile posters who have (dis)graced this board. I think the male posters aren't sensitive to it because they aren't on the receiving end. Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine (nor am I alone in my perceptions).
Are you serious about the misandry comment? If so, then I think I, in turn, am entitled to an apology. At no time whatsoever have I ever made an anti-male comment on this site. Not once. |

If you think the monkey/crocodile analogy is apt, I'm guessing there's quite a lot in life you "just don't see." |

Well, most of my experience so far has been with rich, perhaps exceptionally well educated hagwon kids. I haven't yet fully gauged the education levels of my rural public school kids yet, so you may very well be right. |
